You and the Found ID Team have gone to great lengths to keep your information safe and private. Still, it's a big world out there. We encourage you to consider these helpful safety tips.
Your safety is the most important thing — more important than your lost thing.
It may not always feel this way, but it's true. If something about a situation doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and let it go. If you feel that a crime has been or is being committed, contact the police right away. Never attempt to confront someone yourself.
Protect your info. Never give out personal information if it isn't necessary. We designed Found ID to keep you from having to share those kinds of details if you don't want to.
Don't meet people at your home or their home. Pick a convenient public place like a coffee shop or cafe.
Consider bringing a friend. There is strength in numbers. (Plus, who doesn’t want an excuse to hang out with a buddy?)
Make sure to tell someone about your plans. Be specific. Leave a message if necessary.
Add an alternative contact to your member profile. Haven't already? Log in to your member profile to add one. This is especially handy when a phone or computer gets lost.
Don't send cash for shipping. If necessary, send a prepaid envelope from a delivery service or ask them to send your stuff COD. Address it to your place of employment.
When applying stickers, first make sure the surface is clean and dry to minimize the chances of the sticker coming off.
Set passcode locks on cell phones and laptops. This will help make them more likely to be returned if they're lost.
Store your Found ID in different places, such as your wallet, computer, address book, etc.
